Description
Luffing crane (luffing tower crane) is composed of metal structure, operating mechanism and electric system. Metal structure consists of tower body, swing arm and chassis, etc. Such tower crane is applicable for resident houses, high-rise hotels, high-rise industry buildings, large chimneys, large-span factory buildings and other high-tower buildings.

Classifications
1. Luffing crane can be divided into up rotary tower crane and lower one. the load capacity of the former one is greater than that of latter one.
2. According to the moving ability, this tower crane can be classified into walking type and stationary pattern. As for stationary one, the tower body is mounted on whole piece of concrete foundation or allocated on X shaped concrete foundation and it does not move. Stationary pattern is usually used in house construction. Walking type consists of crawler-type, truck pattern, tyre mode and rail-mounted luffing crane.
3. According to the luffing way, such tower crane can be sub-classified into horizontal arm car luffing crane swing arm crane.
4. In accordance with its installation mode, luffing crane can be divided into self-elevating, overall quick disassembling and split mounting type.

Features
1. The swing arm includes horizontal and compression bar type. When the swing arm is horizontally set, the load-trolley will change its amplitude along the horizontal arm with balance.
2. The lifting weight of luffing crane changes with the change of amplitude. Load moment (elevating capacity × amplitude) is an important technical parameter for such tower crane. With swing mechanism and swing bearing, this crane features high lifting height, inertia mass, good speed adjusting performance and so on. Besides rheostat speed regulation, luffing crane also adopts eddy-current brake, frequency modulation, pole changing, silicon controlled rectifier and electromechanical method to adjust the speed.
3. Luffing crane is equipped with various safety devices so as to ensure safety operation, such as inhibiting device (like elevating capacity snubber, amplitude limitator, height limitator and Load moment limiter, etc. ) and lead limit switch, tower light, wind meter and aisle guardrail, etc.
